Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of StockArena (the "Service"), operated by BKNYLabs LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
1. What StockArena Is
StockArena is a paper-trading simulation for educational and entertainment purposes. We simulate stock and ETF trades against live market quotes, but no real securities are bought or sold and no real money is at stake. Any prizes are symbolic. StockArena is not a brokerage, not a financial advisor, and nothing on the Service constitutes investment advice.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 15 years old to use StockArena. You must use your real name and a valid email address.
If you are a mentor, you must be an adult (18+) and you accept the additional responsibilities in our Mentor Code of Conduct.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.
3. Your Account
- One account per person. You may not share your account or credentials with anyone.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
- If you discover unauthorized access to your account, notify us immediately at the address in Section 15.
- You must provide accurate information. We may suspend or terminate accounts that contain false information.
4. The Simulation
- All "trades" on StockArena are simulated. We do not buy or sell real securities on your behalf.
- The platform uses live market quote data from Finnhub for whole-share orders only. Quotes may be delayed by several seconds relative to underlying markets.
- Whole shares only; no fractional shares.
- Order types include market, limit, stop-loss, take-profit, trailing stop, and OCO bracket.
- Prizes (currently $500 to the winner of each fund) are symbolic and are paid at the discretion of the platform operator. The platform reserves the right to change or eliminate prize amounts at any time.
5. Code of Conduct
By using StockArena you agree to follow our Community Code of Conduct, which prohibits harassment, slurs, sexual content, threats, discriminatory language, and unwanted off-platform contact between users.
Violations may result in your messages being removed, your chat access being suspended or banned, your fund participation being terminated, or your account being permanently terminated. Decisions rest with the platform operator.
6. Content You Post
You retain ownership of the chat messages, profile content, and other material you submit to the Service. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, transmit, and process that content for the purpose of operating the Service (including AI-based moderation, mention parsing, and analytics).
Mentor session recordings. Mentor video sessions may be recorded, and selected recordings may be incorporated into our public mentor library, accessible to other students and mentors on the platform indefinitely. Mentors grant a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free license for their session recordings to be retained, edited, and made available within the library. Students appearing in recordings consent to being included; students (or, for users under 18, their parent or guardian) may request anonymization of audio or video, or removal of specific recordings, via the contact information in Section 15. We will honor reasonable requests within 30 days where technically practical. We may decline to include any recording, edit recordings for clarity or length, or remove recordings from the library at our discretion.
You are responsible for the content you post. Don't post:
- Anything illegal, infringing, defamatory, or that violates someone else's privacy
- Spam, malware, links to malicious sites, or attempts to disrupt the Service
- Sexual content, slurs, harassment, threats, or content targeting other users
- Other people's personal information without their consent
We may remove any content for any reason, particularly content that violates the Code of Conduct.
7. Mentor Responsibilities
Mentors and co-mentors agree to a Mentor Code of Conduct, which includes responsibility for safety in their fund, prompt action on concerning behavior, no private contact with students outside the platform, immediate reporting of suspected abuse or self-harm, and compliance with all applicable law. The Mentor Code of Conduct is presented in-app to mentors and must be acknowledged before mentor features become available.
8. AI Tools
The Service uses third-party AI tools (Anthropic Claude) for chat moderation, an Arena AI workspace, mentor profile research, and similar features. AI responses are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or otherwise wrong. Do not rely on AI output for any real-world investment decisions. AI processing is described in more detail in our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual Property
The Service, including all software, design, branding, AI prompt configurations, and curated content, is owned by BKNYLabs LLC. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without our written permission.
Market data is licensed from Finnhub. You may not extract or redistribute market data from the Service.
10. Disclaimers
- No investment advice. Nothing on the Service is investment advice. The simulated portfolio is not a recommendation.
- No accuracy guarantee. Market data, AI responses, and other Service output may be inaccurate, delayed, or temporarily unavailable.
- Service availability. We do our best to keep the Service running but make no uptime guarantees. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BKNYLabs LLC and its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed one hundred US dollars (US$100). The Service is provided free of charge.
12. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, particularly for violations of these Terms or the Code of Conduct.
On termination, the license you grant in Section 6 ends, except that we may retain copies of your content as needed to comply with our retention policy in the Privacy Policy and to support safety incident response.
13. Modifications
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Kings County, New York. You and BKNYLabs LLC each waive any right to a trial by jury.
